Step-by-Step Summary
- Clean Bars: Remove old tape and clean any sticky residue from the handlebars. Secure hydraulic lines/cables with electrical tape.
- Start at End: Start wrapping at the bottom of the drops. Leave about half the width of tape overhanging the end (to tuck in later).
- Wrap Inward: Wrap towards the frame (clockwise on right, counter-clockwise on left) to prevent loosening while riding.
- Figure-8 at Lever: Use the "figure-8" method or the small cheater strip (included) to cover the clamp area behind the hoods.
- Maintain Tension: Keep firm, consistent tension. Not so tight it snaps, not so loose it unravels.
- Finish at Stem: Stop wrapping about 3-5cm from the stem. Cut the tape at an angle so it finishes purely vertical.
- Secure: Wrap with electrical tape to secure. Insert barend plugs to tuck in the overhang.
[!TIP] Good wrapping is about consistent tension and overlap (1/3 to 1/2 overlap). If you mess up, unwrap and try again!
