Basic Maintenance

  1. Check Battery Levels:
    • Shimano Di2: Hold any shift button. A solid green light on the junction box means 50%+ charge; flashing green means 25-50%; red means <25%.
    • SRAM AXS: Press the button on the derailleur. Green = Good; Red = Low; Flashing Red = Critical.
  2. Micro-Adjusting (Indexing):
    • If the chain is noisy or hesitating, use the app or the "Function" button on the derailleur to enter adjustment mode.
    • Use the shift buttons to move the derailleur in tiny increments until the noise stops.
  3. Firmware Updates: Use the Shimano E-Tube Project or SRAM AXS app to update your components. These updates often improve battery life and shifting speed.
  4. Shifter Batteries: Don't forget that wireless shifters (AXS and some Di2) use small coin cell batteries in the levers. These usually last 1-2 years but should be checked annually.

[!IMPORTANT] Always carry a spare battery or ensure a full charge before a long ride. There is no manual override if the battery dies mid-ride!
