Key Maintenance Steps

  1. Temperature Management: Never charge a battery that is freezing cold or extremely hot. Bring it to room temperature (about 65-75°F) before plugging it in.
  2. Storage Voltage: If you aren't riding for more than a week, store the battery between 30% and 60% charge. Storing at 100% or 0% for long periods will degrade the cells.
  3. Clean Contacts: Periodically wipe the metal contact points on the battery and the bike with a dry rag to ensure a clear electrical connection.
  4. Firmware Updates: Check with your local shop or use the manufacturer's app (like Bosch Flow or Shimano E-Tube) to ensure your battery Management System (BMS) has the latest software.
  5. Inspect for Damage: Check the casing for cracks or swelling. If the battery is dropped or the case is compromised, stop using it immediately—it can be a fire hazard.

[!WARNING] Never use a third-party charger not approved by your e-bike manufacturer. Incorrect voltage or current can lead to permanent battery failure or fire.
